About South Field Energy

South Field Energy is a 1,100-megawatt electric generation facility primarily fueled by natural gas proposed in Columbiana County, Ohio. The facility is on fewer than 20 acres of land set back 3,500 feet from Route 45 on a 150-acre parcel near Wellsville, Ohio. Natural gas and electrical interconnections are located nearby.

South Field Energy is a subsidiary of Advanced Power. The project is similar to Advanced Power’s Carroll County Energy, a 700-megawatt natural gas electric generation facility under construction in Carrollton, Ohio. Together, the projects represent an investment of nearly $2 billion in the region.

Bechtel Power Corporation will build the facility. South Field Energy is in the process of completing environmental studies and will be applying for and obtaining the necessary permits.

Advanced Power is a leading energy development company based in Boston, Massachusetts. Advanced Power’s management has a proven track record of developing natural gas-fueled electric generation projects.
